GUIN WET/DRY ELECTION

       GUIN - By a huge margin ( Yes 617 - No 388 ) the Town of Guin has voted to become one of Alabama's new "Wet" towns under the new law allowing town's with a population of 1000 or more to hold municipal option elections to determine the legal sale of alcoholic beverages inside the city limits. Earlier this year the cities of Hamilton and Winfield rejected the votes with Winfield staying dry by only 5 votes. Guin will be the first town in Marion County to allow the sales of alcoholic beverages. This could prove beneficial to the town since it announced earlier this year a new Holiday Inn Express to be constructed on the cities property on I-22 soon.
